Education can be a lifelong journey. Learning has the power to expand your viewpoint, improve your life, and be a source of enjoyment. CREC’s Division of Community Education continues its commitment to the Greater Hartford community by providing adult education courses. Our classes are taught by experienced, enthusiastic, and talented instructors. Our classes offer an opportunity to meet others and have fun.

JEWELRY MAKING

4 Week Class

This class is for anyone who is interested in making beaded jewelry. You will have the opportunity to make a different accessory each week. You will learn to make earrings, bracelets, and necklaces with many different types of beads-glass, plastic, metal, semi-precious, etc. You can make as many items as time allows in each class. Come and make something special for gift giving or for yourself. Enrollment is limited, please register early. The instructor will supply all of the tools, and will bring supplies for you to purchase. There will be a materials fee charged each week that will vary from $1 to $10 depending upon the beads selected for each project.

Instructor: Sandy Merrill has been beading for 25 years. She works at most of the assisted living senior centers in the Hartford area. She also does children’s birthday parties, Girl Scout troops, and house parties.

YOGA

5 Week Class

Feel Revitalized, Relaxed and Renewed!

Join us to learn the Hatha yoga styles, allowing you to approach your practice at your own pace. Linda Leslie has been practicing yoga for 40+ years. Her yoga teacher training and certification is from The Yoga Institute of Houston, Texas, granted in July 2004. Presently, she is teaching a yoga class to older adults for the Town of Newington, where she have also taught young children ages 7-12 and done programs for young mothers and toddlers. Additionally, she have done special programs in yoga for children and teachers at The School for Young Children at St. Joseph’s College and for teacher training given at the Hartford YWCA.
